Bytown Beat, under the direction of Kelly Edwards & Stephanie Turpin, is a Sweet Adelines chorus. We sing a cappella harmony that is also known as barbershop.
Bytown Beat is a non-profit in Ottawa, Ontario.
Bytown Beat Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International (SAI) which is a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. This independent, non-profit music education association is one of the world‘s largest singing organizations for women. The SAI organization has 24 regions comprised of more that 1200 quartets and 500 choruses.
The Bytown Beat chorus is part of Lake Ontario Region 16 of SAI. Region 16 encompasses Southern Ontario and Northern New York State. Every region holds educational events as well as chorus and quartet competitions.
Women of all ages are offered a creative outlet for musical growth and receive vocal lessons while learning to sing as a harmony team.
Come to our weekly rehearsals. No formal musical training is required. Riser readiness is assessed after a period of 4-6 weeks.
